What is Implant?
Implant treatment is a surgical method applied to permanently eliminate tooth deficiencies in the jaw structure. Implants with artificial tooth roots made of titanium are very similar to natural tooth roots. After these roots are placed in the jawbone, they fuse to the bone over time and replace the natural teeth. After boiling and healing, the superstructures are completed with porcelain and the lost chewing function is restored. Implants are one of the best treatment methods that replace natural teeth today.
How is Implant Treatment Done?
Whether you are suitable for implant treatment or not is determined by the preliminary evaluation made by the dentist. At this stage, the physician evaluates many conditions such as x-ray, physical examination, health history, medications you use and age profile together. As a result of this evaluation, if your gum and bone density is sufficient, implant treatment can be started, but if your bone density is not sufficient, additional treatments such as bone powder and other treatments required before implant treatment are completed. At this stage, the patient has detailed information about implant prices and treatment cost. Then, the implant treatment is started gradually as follows:
- The area to be implanted is anesthetized with local anesthesia and waited for a while so that you do not feel pain during the surgical stages.
- Then, the gum is cut, thoroughly scraped and the jaw bone is revealed.
- After the gum is stripped, the nest opening in the jawbone is started gradually.
- After the implant slot is opened sufficiently, the titanium artificial implant root placement process is started.
- The implant root is placed in the jawbone by applying compression force at the desired level and position. The upper part of the implant root is closed with a lid.
- In the following process, two different ways are followed as open and closed healing depending on the patient’s condition in order to fuse the implant root with the jaw bone.
- After the fusion period with the bone is completed, the treatment is completed by placing permanent dental prostheses (bridges, crowns or fixed prostheses) on the upper part of the implant.
Indoor Healing:
At this stage, after the implant root is placed, the scraped gum is sutured by following surgical procedures. The implant cap is closed so that it is inside the gum and the implant screw is expected to fuse to the bone. After boiling, the gum is stripped again and the superstructure of the tooth is placed.
Open Healing:
The sutures are completed by leaving the cap on the implant root visible. You can feel this cover with your tongue. In the next process, the superstructure of the tooth is placed directly on this valve.
What are the Advantages of Dental Implants?
Implants are very similar to natural teeth, so they are very difficult to distinguish from natural teeth.
- They improve your speech and chewing function and allow you to live a more comfortable life.
- They provide support to the opposite jawbone to prevent jaw bone melting.
- When they are cared for, they are long-lasting like a natural tooth.
Is there pain in implant treatment?
Implant treatment is usually a painless procedure because it is performed under local anesthesia. During surgical procedures, patients usually do not feel pain or discomfort. Local anesthesia applied before the treatment prevents pain during the procedure by numbing the operation area.
